Political correctness, diluted half-truths and blatant misrepresentations have infiltrated public reason and debate. Over the course of the last 75 years or so, common sense and traits of character worthy of praise and emulation have been beaten into shapes that no longer represent the essence of their former selves.
The State of our Union is in a near-terminal condition.
The State of our Union is in a near-terminal condition.
Until those of us still possessing common sense find the nerve and boldness to call things as we see them, our elected leaders will continue to perform as they have in the past. Bad behavior left unchecked will eventually become acceptable behavior.
If we as a nation were to turn a blind eye to the behavior of criminals and disband all law enforcement, what do you suppose would be the outcome? Hopefully, chaos comes to mind.
Now more than ever before in our nations history it is critical that we all place less attention to our political affiliations and ‘zombie-like’ love affairs with leaders and people of influence that have lost their way.
It’s time to rally around fundamental principles of decision-making.
In fact, it’s way past time to make some very tough decisions. Decisions that will be very difficult to make and ones that will no doubt, adversely affect many of our citizens in the short-run, both the fortunate and the less fortunate.
Many will oppose us. Many more will admire us. Given time, God’s favor and a collective effort of unwavering persistence – most will honor our courage and benefit greatly in years to come.
But let’s get one thing straight. Without the moral compass of solid biblical understanding and application we as a nation have no chance of accomplishing our objectives. Those that wish to serve only the demands of their constituencies, those that benefit from bribes, kick-backs and favors for bowing to their masters will have to be replaced.
No other nation in history has given more to the needy, the suffering, or the hungry. Acts of charity and compassion that are indeed attributes of God. While we can reflectively take great pride in the good we have shared, we cannot afford to be boastful, satisfied or haughty.
We must remember, “unless the Lord builds the house, those who labor to build it, do so in vain” (Psalms 127:1). Simply stated, it means we must become of one accord in our understanding of God’s will and work together towards fulfilling His purpose.
But that sounds hard, impossible really and extremely naïve.
It is hard. Difficult yes. Impossible no. Why? Because, “with men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26).
I happen to believe that a revival is under way. A returning to wisdom and call to action by thousands of Christians, God-Fearing patriots that have had enough of the madness invoked by a corrupt and ineffective government that has either forgotten why God is critical to our success or they are methodically committed to removing God from our schools, our communities, our society and our way of life.
Today, we need to call back the presence of God and the wisdom of His Word to rule once again in the hearts and minds of those with whom we have entrusted this nation. Not only for this nations survival and future prosperity, but also, for the many nations of the world that look to us for help, support, guidance and leadership.
In this day and age of political correctness and making sure folks keep things said or printed in context, I am not advocating or calling for a revolution to rise up and overthrow any establishment in the physical sense. Rather, I am calling all Zombies to order. Both Democrats and Republicans. Liberals and Unitarians. It’s time to put our petty differences aside, for a season, and unite as one people, dedicated to saving this nation and all she stands for.
When appointed personnel place themselves above the law and willfully avoid answering to those in whom we have entrusted to insure no wrong doing is occurring, when they coward behind privilege of any kind, we need to agree that they have lost our trust, and thus, have lost their status.
I suspect that this article will be tough for some to swallow. It was indeed a challenge to write. Knowing the targeted audience was intended to be broad, reaching both Christian and secular readers; both politically active, as well as, the misinformed or unawares crowd. To those just tuning into the news that feel they’ve walked into a 400 level college classroom with their Scooby Doo lunchbox and their name pinned to the front of their shirt, you can thank the elitist liberal left-wing media for holding you back all these years.
And to be completely fair in my assault and assignment of blame, those on the right, those in the middle and all those with hidden agendas that took and continue to take great liberty in distorting the truth to confuse us common folks – enjoy the ride down – because your fall from grace is near.
It is time to ask our-selves “where are the might men and women of faith and character?” Surely some still exist. Where have they gone? If some remain, which I believe many do, why has their voice grown so faint?
Have they grown weary from crying out in the darkness? Have they been silenced by louder voices? Are those louder voices correct in their assessments, accusations, preaching and rhetoric?
What if they are wrong? What if they are lying? Is it possible that they, the louder symbols, have lost there way as well? When our elected officials, Congressmen and Senators lose their way, when reason and common sense can no longer be defined, much less agreed upon by parties we have elected to serve, when these employees of the people become too disconnected to effectively serve, it is time to call “BS” and hold those we’ve called out to account.
