The Road Ahead - Post Elections

11/8/2016

The road ahead for Americans, regardless of what party you most closely identify with, will prove to be a tough hoe.  Regardless of who "wins" tonight, come January, we, the citizens of this great nation, will still wake up to face  multiple daunting tasks ahead.  We have far greater challenges ahead of us. Challenges that will require and demand the "will of the people" to identify the problem, stand resolute in addressing it and eventually engage in taking the fight to the enemy.
Regardless of who "wins" the title of Commander-in-Chief in the morning, come January, "We The People" will still wake up to a nation truly divided, weakened, abused and sorely in need of some serious mending.

At 12:00 PM on January 20, 2017, the next Commander-in-Chief will be sworn into office.  Once the Inauguration ceremony is over, the clock begins again and the list of priorities over the next 100 days to forty-eight months will be established.  The items on this list are tasks that will not require hands-on assistance from us common folk.  Things like assembling a strong and diverse cabinet that will define steps to stimulate the economy, revisiting regulatory restrictions that hinders growth and establishing new relationships with world leaders are just a few of the items that our next Commander-in-Chief will assume.

But what will be OUR LIST of priorities - We The People?  What are the local level tasks and community challenges that we can assume responsibility for?  Well, I'm glad you asked.

In the morning, WE, the American Citizenry, will wake up to the fact that half of the citizenry will not be exuberant with the election outcome.  And the other half will eventually calm down and realize that "the work" is still ahead of us.

In the morning, WE THE PEOPLE, of all colors, all religious backgrounds that honor and respect one another must face the fact that this country is more racially divided and in worst condition than it was in the mid 50's.  How will we begin to approach this topic, and engage in constructive conversations that lead to healing and understanding?

In the morning, we will still have a divided House and Senate determined to hold their power and privilege.

We will still have a jihadist mentality media bias and imbalance that can't afford to "come clean."

We will still have an academia epidemic still committed to misguiding, misinforming and polluting the minds of our college students.  When will these institutions return to an honorable and worthy mantra of "preparing the next generation to lead" instead of pontificating that "the world owes them a living."  How will these graduates of "Higher Education" cope in a highly competitive global community of peers that have been properly prepared to think, work and compete?

And how will we reach the millennials and younger populace that know and care more about the Kardashian's, Justin Bieber and finding Pokemon Go than pursuing solutions that will better their station in life, now and going forward?

And how will we adjust to a society that now forms opinions from 140 character Tweets and how will we hold those "in charge" accountable in a culture of corruption that has obviously run amuck?

How will we begin the process of healing this nation?  Who will stand in the gap to help re-connect the disenchanted and the disenfranchised?  Who will lead the campaign to re-educate those that have been "held-back" by our liberal institutions and misled by extremely biased media outlets that have surrendered their former credentials of being above reproach in exchange for a few pieces of silver?

How will we approach the great divide between two parties that desperately must find a way to begin communicating with each other again – logically and honestly?

When folks of privilege are not held accountable, fired, impeached or imprisoned for corrupt and illegal behavior – how will we explain and teach the next generation the difference between right and wrong – how to lead and make wise decisions?  How will they reconcile the consequences associated with decisions we've made or actions we've allowed to be taken?

These are but a few of the challenges WE THE PEOPLE can and must, begin to address while our next Commander-in-Chief tackles their list.

These are the things that keep me up at night.  These are but a handful of the 'bigger tasks' that you and I can begin to address - with the hope - that given time, patience, persistence and God's Grace and favor - we will look back and take great pride in the energy expended and progress made.
